PeerTriggerTest

Date: 2003-07-04 Author: Elektroj?nis Viewed 2645 times

This is just a short quickie to test the new Peertrigger machine a bit. I decided to upload it here because someone on the news comments asked for possible uses of peertrigger. So... Here is one.

It's pretty self explanatory but anyway... First part is just the amen break from the superdrum to show what is used to trigger stuff in the second part. In the second part the amen itself is muted from the master the buzz drummachines are triggered from that loop.

I used separate filters to separate the different drums. The reason wy is that at least to me its easier to tune those filters when I can listen to the filters output while tweaking. If I had used a filter that shows the frequency in herz I could probably have removed them after tweakking and dialed the numbers in the PeerTriggers own filtters.

The amen is not probably the best choise for a loop for this but I used it here because it's easily available as a buzz plugin. :) This example isn't very finetuned either... It was just a short test.

Nice! You used it in the initial spirit. But, as you said, the amen beat is not very easy to separate with filters (especially where snare and bd alternate rather quickly). Anyway - i tried your file (using the internal filters though) with SampleGrid as a kind of drumsound replacer . It's not a perfect extract from the amen beat, but still works quite good. 2003-07-05 by thOke

great demo!! for some reason it didn't occur to me to use multiple instances to trigger differnet "types" of drums... great use though 2003-07-05 by petec

Burundi Version ;-) 2003-07-05 by thOke

Yeah... One other reson why amen is difficult for this is because it has a lot of ghosthits going. I did not even try to get the ghosthits of the kick (ErsKick does not even have velocity on the triggers). That burundi version is cool. 2003-07-05 by Elektroj?nis

Actually multiple instances are not needed for triggering different drum sounds if you use the internal filters. Just add tracks. 2003-07-05 by Elektroj?nis

the internal filter algorithm was the easiest crappiest one i could find, as i figured since u wont be hearing the filtered sound the quality didnt matter too much, so i just threw it in there... but using external filters probably gives better results, as theyre better filters. so if you find the internal filter is no good, thats the reason ;) 2003-07-06 by lee_dc

http://www.106grafton.karoo.net/EJ_triggertest_better.zip hopefully this link works. this has the snare being filtered with firesledge parametric EQ, it seems to work better. the trigger algorithm is very fussy about the level you send it, a few dBs louder or quieter and it wont trigger properly, you have to mess with it a lot 2003-07-06 by lee_dc

Nice examples all round. I didn't think I'd find a use for this machine, but these have totally changed my mind. Playing with this will keep me busy well into the autumn (fall for all you Americans ;P ) 2003-07-09 by rorschach
