  REVIEW

new toys test + routing demo

OK boys'n'girls, this is a small and silly piece of music/noise I made to both test those lovely new BTDSys machines and to show how I (sometimes) do my machine routings when starting to build new sounds and layers and whatever...and also how I set up (almost) all of my reverbs and delays.

Also, it shows how you can easily use the 2ndProcess LoopJumpHack to create a loop to reset/initialise all your machines in the beginning of the track and then having them running "freely" on upcoming loops. This way you can listen how stuff will evolve through the track without the hassle of building an entire 10 (or whatever) minutes long loop.

So...after you've listened at the Whole Sort of General Mish Mash for a couple of minutes you can start muting machines to see how it all connects and works, and how it's built...just a few "rules":
1. don't mute the PrimiFun,OzO and FlaserBox themselves, but rather the "Switch" machines because the BTDSys RingMods need to get a signal from all input machines to make any noise.
2. you can mute the ringmods, mixers, the delay and the reverb however you like without fearing to cut away all sound - just make sure that some signal is going into the master limiter.

oh yes...the machine view can/will look a bit messy if you screen resolution is set to less than 1280x960. If it looks like a mess - which it by the way looks like anyway ;) - you can close the PrimiFun and FlaserBox windows and re-arrange the machines to better fit your screen.

OK, that was all for now. I hope that at least someone will learn something useful out of this. Bye.

Pauli.

(also) oh yes...don't whine about the following two things:

1. "it sounds like crap". I know, it's supposed to - with all the ringmods at work that is :)
2. "the cheapo machines don't work". Use the BuzzFixKit. Period. 2002-10-20 by Paul Eye
