To create wild and crazy drumloops, do this:

1) In the beginning there was sound, so load some percussion samples.

2) Next we need to set up the machines. Add a Groove 1 (optional), a BTDSys peerctrl and a BTDSys stutter (both required). Connect the looper to the master (or route it through other fx).

3) Time to get some weirdness going. Set the Groove 1 to 48 swing. Then, for each track in the stutter (I prefer not to use more than 3 tracks because more just creates cacophony), create an assignment in the peerctrl and link it to '[T] 6: Loop Time' Set slightly different value mappings for each assignment/track, but keep them very very close to the bottom of the drawing area.

4) Ok, we have it all set up, so it's time to edit the stutter patterns. Bring up the pattern editor and enter some 1's and 0's where you want them on some or all tracks. I find it works best when you enter a 0 (off) immediately after each 1 (on) - it keeps the loop neater. When you're done, create a pattern for the Groove 1 and add a 1 in the trigger field.

5) Move to the sequencer and add your sequence(s) for the Stutter and the Groove 1. I usually just paste the Groove 1 pattern all the way down to the end of the song, so when I click elsewhere in the song to play from there, the Groove doesn't trip.

6) Prepare to boogy! Press play!

Tip: If you're not satisfied with the loop you've created, tweak the value mappings in the peerctrl.

Rok On,

Trisky

p.s. anybody know other synths which are good for this kind of sweep? *custard* :) 2002-02-16 by dippedincustard

You might try using rymix FlaserBox (effect). Just add it to a pad. I've gotten similar results. I like the sequence, btw. 2002-02-16 by IntrospectiveJourneys

damn right about the Infector, its biggest good point (when compared to the kyrie!) is its triggerable LFOs, useful for doing mad DnB, and Hoover type sounds ;-) but then again.........if the kyrie had triggerable LFOs ;-))))) (hint hint Rymix) the kyrie would be the synth to beat 2002-02-17 by supafunk

Do you mean triggerable lfos as in resettable? That's what the LFO Manual params are for. =) 2002-02-17 by rymix

Speaking about infector... Is there a reason why the number of channels is constant? 2002-02-18 by Elektroj?nis

ARGH!!! I meant is there a reason why the amount of channels is constant in kyrie? 2002-02-18 by Elektroj?nis

J?nis: maybe it's because all the params are global...dunno, just a guess... 2002-02-18 by Paul Eye

Not all kyrie params are global... I think. Isn't there some track parameters too? And anyway I can't understand why the amount of channels is constant (was it 5 or 6, I dont have buzz at work) even if all the parameters where global. This is just me wondering though. Kyrie works great as it is... It would be nice to be able to sync the track parameters for quick editing and testin when playing chords and stuff? 2002-02-18 by elektroj?nis

ooops, sorry rymix, ive just found out how to use the manual LFO thing! KYRIE KICKS ASS NOW! now i can do even more twisted bass lines in kyrie!!! :-) 2002-02-18 by supafunk

The reason there is a fixed number of tracks is because I put global parameters in there. You cant have 6 lfos if you only have 2 tracks! The only track parameters are: note, Amp, Length, and Velocity. All the others are Global. The envelopes retrigger independently on each track, of course, and the LFOs do not.  2002-02-19 by rymix

Oh... Now I get it! Thanks! I should have digged in deeper before posting. 2002-02-20 by Elektroj?nis

i didnt check the tune out yet, but i guess its quite good, cause i use the infector a damn lot... (I've NOT forgotten it... ;) its one of my most used machines besides the voids and the gurus... ;) 2002-02-21 by RomanB
