Creating Templates, Namdans Method - Buzzhelper, Chordwizard, McArp
This is similar to another old tip for navigating through patterns of machines. You can rename all of your generators with a prefix of 1,2,3,etc. You can cycle through machines by using alt + arrow keys in the pattern editor. With the prefixes, the generators all appear at the top of the list. This is a somewhat easier to get to patterns other than using enter on the sequence editor.
If you dont know what a template is, go learn here.
Similarly, we apply this renaming scheme to separate chains of machines for templates. Instead of renaming just the generator, do this for all machines in each chain. Our first chain becomes 0infector, 0chorus, 0delay, 0reverb, second chain - 1gen, 1eff, 1efff, third - 2eff, 2efff, etc. In this method, we will rename all of our chains inside Buzz. Save bmx file. Import into buzzhelper.

Our bmx file with the chains renamed. You can remove all samples in the wavetable by block highlighting, clear. Import into buzzhelper. In this example, all machines below the master machines i want to mass delete.

Our bmx file in buzzhelper, we can see how our chains now come up in numerical order prior to all other machines which are on the bottom and will be deleted
Screenshot - bmx reimported after mass deletion
We could reimport this file now back into buzz into any bmx file, it can also now be separated into smaller templates for each chain. This file could serve as a 'post-buzzhelper' or 'intermediate template' for further splitting or just a mass template addition
With buzzhelper and shift arrows like in windows explorer, we can highlight various blocks of machines. Since we renamed them, we can sort them alphabetically for easy sorting. And then using cntrl o, shift highlight, delete, save, reload, in this order, we get quick fast way to make templates effectively :) Keep loading the intermediate template to split into its individual chains/templates.
For best template stability on import and on loading overall, disconnect the final machine before the master, using a 'submachine' or 'premaster' machine - cyanphase jedshiva, ld mixer, cheapo amp, whatever, disconnect it from the master before saving, and you get more stability. This is the idea behind Morex's DM Utility.
I have found that while machines are being loaded into buzz, buzz acts better with NO machines connected to the master rather than machines having connections, this is especially true with template import (right click, import a song in f3) like this or this
So in my case, using buzzhelper, i just delete jedshiva (my pre-master machine) and all post production machines, and all machines/template chains are automatically disconnected from master :) See this in the second screenshot
Problems
"I have 10 parameq" - buzz automatically adds a -1 -2 suffix to all templates :D
Imported templates will overwrite existing files in the wavetable so be warned. Best to use templates without samples. If you do use samples, for eg drumbeats, try to import samples and patterns separately to make life easier.
Please dont add a comment like 'templates are not useful' 'i dont believe in templates', maybe one day you will see the light ... They can be extremely useful if you know how and are organized about it.

Quick Summary of these tools
McArp - rewrite of chordwizard, chordwizard becomes obsolete
Buzzhelper - Scaled Down Version (without pattern creation ability)
All three can - transpose, copy, clone, duplicate, etc to machines.
In McArp + CW, you can select from a HUGE listing of keys/scales, and based upon your step sequencers input generate 10s-100s of patterns instantly .. very handy for chord progressions or 'basic' patterns to manipulate in buzz later. Also, you can use your soundcard's midi sounds to preview the patterns/progressions. Alot of features, i haven't gotten to them all yet ! It also has a wonderfully written .hlp file, with a search function. Also, .mid file export.
Thanks so, so, so much namdans, i appreciate your work immensely :D

So you rename the machines in order to ease making templates in Buzzhelper? I think that might be helpful. Your templates do look useful, can I get them off your site? Also: How do I load other machines into Buzzhelper? It'll come up with an error if you load a machine not found in it's ini. Do I have to create a new entry in machine.ini for every new machine, or is there some way to do it automatically? 2005-07-28 by wizenwet (Voted 10 for this review!)

I"m in the process of making new templates, very old ones are all that are available on my site, just came up with this idea ;) If machines aren't in the ini ... you need to goto file, machine manager, then searching for new machines ;) 2005-07-28 by noolout (Voted 5 for this review!)

of course, there is also kooper's wonderful template pack ! although it does use alot of old machines, still great compilation works, and great sounds ! 2005-07-28 by noolout (Voted 5 for this review!)
