_________Micro Tuning in Buzz___
------------------tinga november 2004-------

A lot of machines in buzz have fine tuning parameters
Two African marimba scales in this short (but infinite) template,BTDSys peerstate make the job.
BTDSys peerctrl (HD_tune) ctrl notes and tuning of PercFM,
BTDSys peerstate (notes_scale) snap it (each snapshot is a note and tuning param)
use snapshots of this machine for the pattern editor (for me just LFO)
BTDSys peerlfo play some melodies with "microwaves" system (wavetable selected inLFO)
audacity is great freeware for wave's edition:
AUDACITY
a basic "peer chain" (one of my favorite)
using the wavetable params of BTDSys peerlfo afford a free tempo for melodies
if freq update is 1 or 2 tk (var rate param) without any change in the master.
you can choose between two scales in BTDSys peerstate "marim/selekt" (preset 4 or 19)

A great freeware for serious work about tunings: Scala
SCALA
............................................................................................................................................................
"Scala is a powerful software tool for experimentation with musical tunings,
such as just intonation scales, equal and historical temperaments, microtonal and macrotonal scales,
and non-Western scales. It supports scale creation, editing, comparison, analysis, storage,
tuning of electronic instruments, and MIDI file generation and tuning conversion.
All this is integrated into a single application with a wide variety of mathematical routines and scale creation methods.
Scala is ideal for the exploration of tunings and becoming familiar with the concepts involved.
In addition, a very large library of scales is freely available for Scala and can be used for analysis or music creation."
(a copy paste of scala home page)
.................................................................................................................................................................
a database with more than 3000 tunings
Download it !!!!
it is the definitive software about this subject, essential!!
and free like buzz
Have micro tuning in Buzz now, necessary for non western music
and for many others thingz.
have fun

If you want to use these .tun files directly in Buzz, go to Tobybear's MidiBag Page and use MicroTuner with Polac's VST Loader. ! 2004-11-10 by thOke (Voted 5 for this review!)

oh!preferably than my manner. thx for the idea and the link.  2004-11-10 by tinga (Voted 5 for this review!)

... th0ke, I've downloaded and tried MicroTuner and I can't get it to do anything... Although I have used MidiMirror from the MidiBag successfully. Is there any way you could post some directions, or even a screenshot?

OK ... i'll try :)
I think MicroTuner comes with two registry files that you can double-click to choose, if you want it to be rigistered as an instrument or an effect. It's an effect here.
1.) Add a PVSTi loader and load an VST instrument (be sure, that it is able to receive pitch bend messages/not all vst instruments are !! Andres Erson's Iblit, for example, reacts to pitch bend)
2.) Add a PVST adapter (remember ... this 'tutorial' is for the effect version). Load MicroTuner into PVST and connect the PVSTi (let's say Iblit) to PVST (MicroTuner) and PVST to the master.
3.) Right click PVST (MicroTuner) and set 'Midi Send...' to PVSTi (Iblit)
4.) Now go to the pattern editor and create a pattern for PVST (MicroTuner) and enter some notes. I recommend to try it with the c major scale, because you will quickly hear, how MicroTuner will change the pitch of your scale.
5.) Open MicroTuner and load a tuning file.

Well ... that's it. It should work - at least it does on my machine. Most important is, that the receiving instrument reacts to pitch bend. otherwise MicroTuner won't work. (It does not seem to work with Buzz generators and Midi Bus)

Thanks th0ke - it was the VSTi that I was using - (I was also trying to use midibus) -
works great - next thing is to see if it will work with the PitchWizard beta - apparently responds to midi pitchbend...

Thanks again -  2004-11-22 by ixemul (Voted 5 for this review!)
