| adding multiple tracks in seq editor for same instrument causes slowdown by DJ Saint-Hubert - May 22, 2012, 11:06 PM |

hi I'm doing something weird where I make lots of patterns for the same instrument and then add each one to their own track in the sequence editor so that they overlap at different times and it would take like 100 years for them to overlap in exactly the same way as a sort of generative technique maybe? Problem is Buzz slows down as more and more tracks are added. I can understand that the extra sequence data would eat up some memory but maybe there is an easy speed boost here? Like same instrument gets treated as one master track that adds all the tracks together. Maybe it's PatternXP's fault/PatternXP would complicate the fix? I can maybe turn off Subtick Timing but I'd rather have the option to use it :( Also I could record multiple wav files maybe but I want the tracks all physically playing at once so I can do stops on some tracks/samples will get interrupted if triggered again
here's a crappy diagram lol

would take 96 ticks to repeat, for example
also in the same vein, this is a huge pain to copy and paste even with a custom seqsteps file, I suggest a feature in the future to do do--->while type loops of patterns, repeat this pattern/this sequence of patterns until infinity/ while this flag is on. Maybe there's a Peer Machine for that?
